Thanks a latte

Arggghhhhh!
I really wanted to play along with Muse again this week,
but the inspirational card, beautiful though it is, is FLOWERS!!!
You know I am florally challenged.
So, this took some thought.

I used Deanna's card, like a sketch and substituted her flowers for lattes :-)
Then I stayed with the same colour scheme of pink, orange and green.

Deanna's card has a lovely, doodled border, which I tried on mine, but the wavy lines just didn't look right,
Instead I opted for straight lines, using a ruler and my fineliner.

You can't really see from these pics, but my card does have some dimension.
The 'doodled' rectangle is popped up on foam pads, as are the latte cups.

Challenges.

One Stitch At A Time - Use A Digi
Digi Stamp Boutique - February Challenge (2nd entry)

Little Genius

Wandering through Pinterest this morning, brought me to a cool, new card blog.

I think it's really going to help me develop my new CAS style of card.
The challenge each week is to use the Muse card as inspiration for your own work, BUT the blog is so much more than that.
They are aiming to create more of a community and would like members to comment on other submissions and support fellow members. Sounds good to me - I need all the help I can get ;-)

Here's my take on this week's Muse card by Marion Vagg.

I took the orange and blue colour combo as my main inspiration, and also went with some chevrons, which seem to be really popular right now.

  • Tiddly Inks Digi Stamp, Genius coloured with Copics
  • Pink Petticoat Digi Papers, Quatrefoil and Chevrons

Eat more cake!

Here's another of my new Uptown girls from Stamping Bella -
isn't she adorable?
I admit - I was nervous of colouring her and almost opted to  paper-piece her dress, but I'm pretty pleased with how she turned out.

Ava, is coloured with Copics and some stickles glitter, cut out and popped up on foam pads.
IRL she has some lovely, sparkly detail.
I also added a few random gems for extra bling :-)
I have learnt now to buy clear gems, so that I can colour them with Copics, to match my design.

By Air Mail With Love

So, here I am back with a card....
I've noticed these cute Snoopy stamps around and I couldn't resist this airplane one.

He's coloured with Copics, cut out and stuck on with foam pads.

For the clouds I used my Memory Box die, cutting them out of felt - layering them up and adding a little button brad.

Challenges.
Tuesday Throwdown -  Anything Goes
City Crafter - You Felt It
One Stitch At A Time - Anything Goes
Mad For Markers - Movies       The movie I chose is 'Airplane'. Yep, I know it's an old one, but it's so funny. We still use some of those old lines... "Can you fly this plane and land it" Surely, you can't be serious!" "I am serious and don't call me Shirley!"

  • Stampabilities - Peanuts Flying High
  • Copics
  • Felt, Button look brads
  • Sentiment - Papermania, Portobello Road

Onion Soup

Is it snowing where you are?
It's coming down heavy again here and everything is already covered in white.
So, I made a lovely, warming onion soup for lunch.
I will be back later with a card  :-)

Love you always

I am really enjoying making my new CAS style cards,
but it isn't coming easy to me.
I knew Valentine's was going to be a challenge.

The first thing I had in my head was the paper -
this Brocade digi paper from Pink Petticoat is so gorgeous.
Note to Liz Armstrong: If you ever branch out into wallpaper,
this design would look amazing in my bedroom ;-)

The next thing I used was the wooden bird cage from Crafty Emblies, which I spray painted silver.
The little, wooden birds were covered in a bright, flowery paper which just didn't work - so I glued them up and dipped them in some fine, silver glitter.

The banner came about by accident really. It was a shape left on my desk from a previous make and I just happened to have a sentiment that fitted it perfectly!
I added the ribbon to cover up the fact that, when I cut the paper, that edge didn't have a white border!

Challenges.
My Mum's Craft Shop - Valentine's / Love
One Stop Craft - Love is in the Air
Allsorts - Valentine's
Polkadoodles - Valentine's Love
Paper Crafting Journey - Love
Aud Sentiments - Adult Valentine's

Keep Calm and Eat Cake

Chocolate Cake with Raspberries and Passion Fruit    at KISS in the Kitchen

You've got my heart on a string!

Oops, I've just realised I should be baking bread and chocolate cake today -
and here I am playing in blogger :-)
It's a busy, foodie week ahead - Chinese New Year, Pancake Day and Valentine's Day.
Lots of excuses for breaking my 'healthy eating' plan :-)

Here's a 'non-food' treat I made for each of my girls, for Valentine's Day.

This was a cute idea, by Liz Stanley that I came across on Pinterest.
I used my largest, nested heart die to cut out the heart shapes, stitched them by hand and filled them with the stuffing from an old cushion.

Here's one of the banners strung up across my fireplace.
It looks so cute, I wish I had made myself one now.

Challenges.
Crafty Calendar - Love and Marriage
Creative Creations - It Must Be Love
Creative Inspirations - Sent With Love
Fab 'n' Funky - Valentine's/Hearts

The Tweet Life

Have you paid a visit to Digi Stamp Boutique recently?
Sally-Ann has some super cute new digis and even more on the way.
I was lucky enough to win a very generous voucher for her store, and here's one of the images I chose.
This is Alyssa.

I used a rectangle nestie to cut out a window in my white card and
placed my bird DP behind it.
Alyssa is coloured with Copics and some stickles glitter.
I also added a touch of glitter to some of the birds wings.

They arrived today from Quixotic Paperie. Eek!

A Yellow and Grey Day

Is it just me, or is it freeeezing today?
Even the dog doesn't want to go outside.
After a pathetic attempt to do some housework, I decided I'd be much better off playing in my craftroom, next to the radiator!

Faye has chosen the challenge over at Cupcake this week, and she has gone for Yellow & Grey.
I am loving this - it's my new favourite colour combo :-)

I followed the great sketch at The Sweet Shop.
My digi guy is Hoodie Jayson, and he's filled with Pink Petticoat 'apple' paper and coloured with Copics.
This is a really terrific digi stamp and I find myself using it a lot.
Just ignore the nasty grey smudges on the apple design - that's my printer throwing a wobbly and definitely not on the digi papers.
